Strengthening the Commercial Future: Canada / Ecuador and Opportunities for South America

On February 26, 2026, LIDOIL, in partnership with CENTRECAN Supply Chain Solutions Inc., successfully held its second international online conference focused on identifying ways to strengthen trade relations between Canada and Ecuador, and how this relationship could generate opportunities for several South American countries. The event provided a strategic framework for Ecuadorian companies seeking to compete in global markets.

The event was moderated by Fernando Rojas, Executive Director of ASOLOG, and featured a keynote presentation by Víctor Leitao, Director of CENTRECAN and specialist in international logistics and supply chain management.

The central message was clear: international diversification is no longer optional; it is an essential strategy for building business resilience.

During the session, Víctor Leitao, a Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) and Certified International Trade Professional (CITP), shared a strategic vision of the opportunities emerging for both Canada and Ecuadorian companies in the context of a potential bilateral trade agreement.

Currently, Canada is pursuing a policy of expanding into alternative markets to reduce its dependence on traditional economies. In this context, Ecuador is emerging as a strategic partner due to its monetary stability, privileged geographic location, and diversified export portfolio.

The agreement under negotiation could generate key benefits such as:

  • Tariff reduction

  • Increased regional competitiveness

  • Integration into global value chains

According to Leitao, these conditions would open new opportunities for Ecuadorian companies in high–purchasing-power markets.

One of the main conclusions of the virtual seminar was the importance of strategic anticipation. To achieve sustainable internationalization, companies should consider the following aspects:

  • Analyze target markets

  • Comply with international standards

  • Optimize logistics and cost structures

  • Professionalize commercial processes

International expansion is not a one-time event but a structured process that requires planning, strategic alliances, and long-term vision.

The conference also highlighted cooperation opportunities in key areas such as:

  • Technology transfer

  • Industrial innovation

  • Specialized training

  • Sustainable development

These initiatives strengthen the Canada–Ecuador relationship as a mutual growth partnership built on knowledge, efficiency, and competitiveness.

Fernando Rojas emphasized the importance of exploring international alternatives in advance and building alliances to evaluate real market opportunities.

His message underscored that early preparation and business collaboration are decisive factors in leveraging future trade agreements.

Strengthening trade between Canada and Ecuador represents a strategic platform for Ecuadorian companies to:

  • Diversify risk

  • Access competitive international markets

  • Increase added value

  • Drive sustainable innovation

In a dynamic global environment, international planning must begin today.

At LIDOIL, together with our international partners, we continue to promote real opportunities for training, technology transfer, and supply of solutions from Canada to the energy and industrial sectors, contributing to the sustainable growth of our companies and our country.
